Perhaps, I missed 3 or 4 lockouts. Yesterday I got Garr's part. I consider myself quite lucky. I would like ask a question. Does that mean that hunter could not equip this weapon?
Is it true or we will be able to carry this weapon only till MoP release? Comment by Liltigerz Biggest one handed weapon in existance.
Also one of the difficult legendaries to get simply because you need two halves of it which takes several runs week by week to get.
Good luck, Im still grinding mine, and I have one half :. Comment by Demonicchoas I got a quick question of whether warlocks can get it. Please leave an answer.
Comment by mummer Can anyone tell me if mongoose displays on it? Cause i want to put lightning on my lightning sword.
Comment by tobn Got this and Sulfuras in 12 runs :. Comment by paulodemoc Too many comments here. Just wanted to let you guys know that the entry need to be updated. I am a warlock and I was able to loot, start the quests, finish and wield the Thunderfury :. Comment by mummer Got my second binding today. And made the sword, to score the guild achievement. Good times were had by all. Comment by If you turn all the items in, and then wipe on Thunderaan, do you have to farm the items again to get another shot?
Comment by Westorz Nice size one-hand xD. It even sounds legendary. Comment by Got both parts on my first MC run in over 5 years! Comment by Salvogpwns24 What the hell?
No one mentioned it sheaths on your back! That's probably the best part! Comment by My right part dropped on 2nd run and left part on 4th run :. Comment by hjp Questline can also be started by Mages. Comment by Just got this Tuesday. Was farming mats for Sulfuras when Garr dropped Right Binding. Spent months soloing Baron Geddon getting Sulfuras in the meantime , when, 2 days ago, Left Binding dropped.
I went totally calm, looting all the vendor trash. Clicked on Left Binding. I yelled at trade to be at the quest giver to see me get Thunderfury. I looted the Wind Kissed Blade then took a screenshot of my holding Sulfuras with the giant Thunderfury Thunderaan's corpse behind me. Might post that later. It was the best thing ever!
Comment by vuktadic After 11 weeks of farming i got my right binding from Garr. After 16 weeks of farming i got my left binding from Baron Geddon. Comment by Dinias Nothing new to say about it just am excited about it, I have been through MC 3 times and first time got nothing 2nd got the right half and 3rd got the left :D I was soo happy not even my bad day at work could bring me down :DD.
Comment by onad Finally got mine after a long wait! Ran MC for months on my orc DK, never saw either of the bindings, but did see two eyes drop off rag and made a Sulfuras. Then I switched servers for a while and ran MC on my Draenei DK, this time seeing no legendary items of any kind drop. Then returned to my orc DK and ran MC for a few more months with nothing. Finally, this past Sunday, the wow gods smiled upon me and both bindings dropped in the same run! Promptly made my sword four days later, and took my honored place in trade chat!
Persistence pays off with this one. Also with BWL being run all the time now for transmog, all the other items save the bindings are now MUCH easier to get than they were prior to patch 4.
Bought four ingots off the AH for under 50G each. Comment by Aharding25 I got both halves to drop in one MC run by dumb luck. Comment by odbastard Some numbers: As a level 60 prot paladin using this to solo Strath damn baron Its total damage came out to , which over the same seconds of combat added an average of Typically what you can see from this weapon proc is that it will double the weapon dps, effectively making it over 80 dps. However, you will often experience many procs within a single pull, e.
Obviously this is only one instance of the weapon's use, so it may be better or worse for X class. Comment by over the last few years those bindings dropped a few times each on my ele shaman, 0 times on my deathknight. Damn you"chance"! Comment by imthewalrus37 Wait a second I wouldn't believe it if I didn't hear it but Did somebody say Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker? Comment by Eclipsegirl This quest chain also allows warlocks.
Maybe it didn't back in Vanilla days. But it does now. Comment by In MoP, legendaries are now viable again, as they're gonna scale in stats just like heirlooms. Comment by jaguara Yesterday I was messing around in MC, finishing off my warrior's t1 xmog set, when Garr dropped the first half. I was like "oh Long story short, in less than 24 hours I went from no thoughts of ever having a TF in my head to having one. Comment by Misuteri Here's a reply that's soon to be downgraded into oblivion then hidden.
I had no real desire to get this thing or farm it for months or years like many people did. I just wanted my warlock T1 set. So first MC run, 2 warlock pieces, left half. Next run, 1 warlock piece. Third run, 1 warlock piece, right half and of course since I never expected to see the 2nd half went and got the quest for the essence of Firelord. So, I don't have my complete T1 yet but I have a legendary that I was never trying to get.
Isn't RNG fail sometimes? Now will someone tell the RNG gods to drop my Felheart gloves? I'm tired of all these legendaries dropping already and really just want to finish my set. Comment by Lottielot I've been able to pick up this quest on my balance druid! I find this a little cruel, as I can't equip the sword if I do it, but as I have the pieces and quest now I'm too intrigued to not try to complete it : Interesting to get the pieces drop on a druid tho.
Comment by baconseed Seems like Garr is the hardest one to get bindings from. Comment by Servo91 Has the drop chance been reduced for either of the bindings?
Comment by Sdesser Back in Vanilla when I started playing my rogue, I drooled after this mighty sword and started my hunt for it. I still equip it on my rogues off hand when I do BG:s for fun. The funny part is that just yesterday 6th of september I got the last part of my T2 set, the pants from Ragnaros which I also had been farming for years.
The Gods of RNG do not like me. Comment by pepperc I ran Molten Core once a week for a month and a half and this week I got the right half after I had the left half drop the previous week, basically I had both bindings within a month and a half Before getting the bindings I got the smelt Enchanted Elementium from BWL so I gathered mats to lvl my smelting to which cost me probably 1k I bought 3 bars for 1.
Comment by TemporalAnarchy It seems like, as of now, the attack speed slow will no longer proc on targets level 80 or higher. The cutoff could be lower, as I was testing with target dummies in Stormwind and they're obviously in level cap increments 60, 70, 80, 85, etc. This may be old news, but I had failed to find this information anywhere as no one really uses it anymore and thought it would be worth sharing.
However, the 25 nature resist reduction does still proc and will cause the TF debuff animations to occur, so continue to envelop those gigantic bosses in tornadoes! Level 90 Monk on my server. Thought I would share. I will keep you all posted on my race to be the First 90 Monk in the World with Thunderfury. Comment by To be honest I feel kind of terrible. I have ran MC a total of 5 times and got both bindings. Its a shame because I know how hard a grind can be and how some have been trying to get the left or right bindings for months.
My advice, the drops are just crazy random, they can both drop in a month or in a year, just hang in there and they will drop maybe not today, maybe not next week, but they will drop.
Shadybear formerly deflation -Bleeding Hollow US. Comment by Liberace My understanding is that this is no longer available to max levels, is this correct? I know I have an alt with one binding in the bank but was told not to bother trying for the other that the quest only awards 78 silver or so when you complete it. Is this true? Comment by tarc With 5.
Comment by michaeldeath Whats the Armour that goes with this. Comment by Noxheart If i have done the quests and got thunderfury. And then my mates does the quests and we kill thunderaan. And the quest beginner drops. If he trades it to me. Can i get a second thunderfury. Or will it only say "you have already vompleated that quest.
Comment by fd85HTWz I got both bindings in 2 weeks, left today and right last week Comment by So this is what Chuck Norris' penis looks like Comment by gamedotwow Thinking about farming this, but I have a feeling Blizzard is going to update it, just as we saw with Zin'rokh and Sulfuras.
It's a very nostalgic piece, but I'm not sure if it's worth all of your time. Some people run Molten Core here and there and manage to loot the mats, some people run it for years and don't see either binding.
My recommendation is this: if you're max level and you're pretty much just doing dailies and waiting for new content because you're already top notch, go for it. If you're either still leveling or just capped, don't worry about it yet.
I feel that a lot of people have gone from wasting their lives on grinding to wasting their lives on farming. Don't do either! Do an instance run every day or two, don't devote your life to it, because you could end up missing out on modern content!
Comment by bobalmity36 you will continue to loot the bindings if they drop even after you have TF Comment by Jacobblaylock After much math i have found out exactly what BASE materials are required to get your thunderfury. This instructable assumes you are a miner of at least skill lvl 1.
You will need to mine just about thorium veins big or small, ooze covered or not to get arcane crystals and enough ores for thorium bars. Kill about of the technicians in BWL to get 10 of the ingots. Note: i know drop rates don't stack, it's an approximation, dont get all butthurt over it. Back to quicker steps, but these ones should be done last 1.
Smelt all of your thorium ore into thorium bars. Xmute all of your thorium bars and arcane crystals into arcanite bars.
Yes, you can do this earlier, but that's just one more cramped inventory spot. Note: Sulfuras has many steps that are done in the same areas or nearby to these, so if your toon has 2H mace proficiency i'd suggest following my other guide as well on the Sulfuras page If this tutorial has any mistakes please mention it so that the WoW community may still use it to their advantage.
Highly recommended. And good luck to all you without bindings. Keep going, 'cause this item is worth it. It finally happened. I originally got the left binding on a rogue I had and for 5 months the right one never dropped. I had 2 accounts, and started playing my warrior more in wrath. Don't give up, such a great feel to play using this weapon! Comment by alexz3 3 years of grinding, finally got my last binding yesterday.
Feels sooooooo goooood! Don't give up! Comment by Tauhrak Just thought i'd mention, as no one else has, If you get this weapon on a character that can't wield swords, it doesn't count towards the Feat of Strength that you get on equipping it, this is very frustrating as i got it on my druid.
I asked a GM if i could send it to an alt that could wield it, and to my demise, they said no. Comment by Somewhere blizzard are laughing on me More than 20 runs on my warrior and got only the right half from Garr.
Twice in a row. Last week i've started running on my priest. First week Gedon gives me the left half Second week, today, Garr gives me the right half Maybe next week i'll get Eye of sulfuras, to complete my useless collection.
Comment by Curycoo you will find that after you have gotten both of your bindings and have gotten your thunderfury, they will start dropping more. A lot more. Comment by Gooner24 I got the right half yesterday and Left half today Wednesday reset bonus, less than 24 hours for both binding :D made my day, my 1st Legendary. Comment by No Pain No Gain. Comment by dstark9 I just ran Molten Core farming the new pets.
Both bindings dropped for me in the same raid. Was very surprised since I hardly ever see these things drop. I have ran Molten Core probaly over times lifetime if not more. I think I've only seen them drop 3 times prior. I made my Thunderfury sword about a year ago. When I made that sword in the same week I also got the legendary Thoridal Bow from The Sunwell and also finished my legendary dagger quest.
I got 3 legendaries within a 7 day period. That might be a wow record. Garetjaxx, area 52 horde side. After New Years i got back from a trip and i decided to farm it every week on multiple chars until i had both bindings. Garr dropped the right binding on the second week and now Baron dropped the left on after six weeks of farming..
Ya im ready to say that! Comment by Can a Shadow Priest Transmog this come 5. Fiery Core x10 - Fiery Core's are basically dropped from any fire elementals in the molten core Elemental Flux x30 - Can be bought from mostly any NPC that has to do with blacksmithing and that will vendor items to you.
I forgot to mention that none of the items needed to make the bars are soul-bound so you could just get them all off of an Auction House if you have enough gold and they are there Then get the Fluxes from a Blacksmith vendor and then just find a Miner with the recipe to make your bars for you.
For those who do not know this, to enter the Molten Core you go to the Black Rock Mountain in the Searing gorge, there inside the Black Rock Mountain Dungeon Around level 55 you find the entrance to the Molten core, but to make the trip to the Molten Core quicker there is a quest outside from Lothos Riftwaker called Attunement to the Core which allows you teleport by speaking to him whenever you want to the Molten Core entrance much faster then walking everytime on your Bindings grind.
The quest is just to walk to the entrance of the Molten Core and loot a shard near the entrance then return it to him after you do so you can speak to him to teleport to the Molten Core thereforth. Comment by Terrassen It is still possible to receive and loot the Bindings even after everyone eligible for the loot, have completed the final quest to obtain Thunderfury on the specific character.
Comment by Once you obtain this the biggest question is what enchants to use. Mongoose, crusader, deathfrost etc. I found for me the best enchant to use is Living Steel Weapon chain. I'm like a kid with a new toy been using it in raid finder as off hand fury war and tanking as well. Id equip it quickly as i'm sure blizz will catch on and nerf. Comment by i think if you have one half of the bindings on you and you do MC you will get the other half it worked for me twice.
Comment by DragonsBlood I'm probably not the first one who says this, but this is the one of the best looking swords blizzard added to the game, ever. There issome nice lookin' stuff besides this one, like the Warglaive's of Azzinoth doesn't matter if main or off hand atm and some others, ofcourse regardless to the rareness and stat's of the weapon s.
We are talking here about only the look of the weapon, not its obtainability or some other facts. Getting the bindings was only the beggining,if you were even that lucky on the droprate and your rolling, considering the fact that getting this was only possible with a 40 man raid.
Sadly blizz decided to remove it with the launch of CATA, but i guess that's a reason more for old players to stand out in the masses of players in every city and raid : happy downrating.
Comment by cronoedge Finally obtained the right binding today. My warlock is now the proud new owner of a thunderfury! Comment by Would be so great if you also got a title too for obtaining Thunderfury. Comment by I decided to run MC for the pets so I went in and had a binding drop for my priest. I was a bit sad because I've run MC at least 50 times over the years on various other alts with no luck. Well I thought nothing of it and carried on to the other raids for the pets then decided I would do them all on my DK.
So I go in not thinking anything of the binding anymore when I'm shocked to see another binding drop. So of course I think "aw I would've gotten Thunderfury if they were on the same toon! The best part is it was the first time my DK ever stepped foot in MC. I submitted a screenshot for proof. Also here is a link to my armory for further proof. Comment by I got lucky when I farmed mine, in that it dropped within about six months of running MC..
Unlucky, however, in that it dropped on my priest- apparently, you have to actually wield the weapon to get the personal achievement. We did, however, get the guild achievement for it, after submitting a GM ticket. Comment by I just got this today, thought it would be fun to transmog it. Found out it is not moggable. I know the site says its not moggable, but I thought that the TF couldn't be mogged, but rather I was trying to make my Pandaria main hand look like the TF. BUT, I am still happy I have it.
Comment by TevishSzat My mage now awaits the ability to transmog to legendary items, if only because it would be comical to turn a 1-handed caster weapon owned by a female Blood Elf into the discombobulatingly massive Thunderfury. Really, it seems off that you can't transmogrify to Legendary items: Aside from a few mounts like Mimiron's Head or the Ashes of Al'ar, Legendary items are the ultimate achievement in WoW: Even now, when it's quite possible to farm Molten Core solo, it still takes a great deal of dedication to obtain Thunderfury.
If there's one item you want to show off that you have, it's a legendary. Comment by timbazi I got the last left half bindings and having all the items to get the sword, I rushed and finished with Molten Core Killing Raggy Bad idea..
Now I need to wait for next week. Don't make the same mistake that I did Comment by Moxson I miss vanilla Comment by DragOpsAge am i able to use this sword as transmog on my rogue? Upon 10 applications of the debuff, the target's father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roomate will be agro'd.
Upon applications, another dark portal will erupt from the ground, causing the Burning Legion to invade Azeroth and WW3 simultaneously. Requires level 20 "Some say power corrupts I ran MC for the first time today on my mage. Both windseeker pieces dropped.. Comment by Thassalian Note: I'm sorry, I had to.
Comment by omgswords It is better than Naxx 40man weapons, not because of its stats, but of its procs and proc rate. Comment by Chaosrex Why in gods name Blizz din't make the legendaries to work like the heirloom items?
It not so unreasonable If at least you could Transmog them, but no. So please BLizz, make them has Heirlooms. Sulfuras shrinks from Ragnaros-size and Thunderfury shrinks from Thunderaan-size. Comment by Module I finished my questline and got the Thunderfury on my Warlock. I wish that as a reward for dedicated players that we can transmog the Thunderfury and have it be a Bind on Account item. Having it's ilvl match our lvl is also a nice idea. Just like the BoA items that increase as we level.
It was a fun experience farming the 2 bindings and finishing the quest line. It took me 3 years to finish. Getting a title with the achievement would also be nice something like "the Windseeker". Comment by DrakeRage To all of those who was trying to get the sword. I just happened to be in MC and I was looking for mogs, but had totally forgotten about the bindings of the windseeker.
SO I went in and killed both of the bosses and guess what. It dropped both the left binding and the right binding on the same dame. I was so happy. I went out of the dungeon and went to Silithius and started my lengendary quest. I am super excited. Comment by reaper7 hello all! Comment by Bindingagony Finally got this after all these years of waiting for the left half of the bindings..
Comment by makiato Finaly got this yesterday after farming for 2 days for the crystals! Sadly when i tried to log on today i found my account banned! Hopefully i get it back! Comment by shinngyboy I got this precious today, after one year of tears, now its mine, a shame nobody appreciates the effort and courage to get this little but magnificent sword. Comment by Chrii Imo all legendarys should work like a heirloom , since its so hard to obtain, with exception of cloak. Maybe that one unlocks after WOD launches so it can be sent to other toons.
I think it would be awsome to be able to use my Thunderfury I can tank heroic SoO bosses with this an have no issues holding off of my dps. The only issue you have tanking with a weapon like this is that your raid members may not always find it reassuring that you are wearing a level 60 weapon in a level 90 raid. From what I can tell this weapon also procs seal of insight less than a level 90 weapon for some reason.
I haven't figured it out yet. I am going to try hitting the dummy with a different level 60 weapon and a level 80 weapon as well later and see if there is a difference because of level or attack speed. Comment by Raveramix Tonight, i was watching a streamer get a binding drop and saying he was lucky. Behold, mortal. Sign up. WoW Archivist: WoW's first legendary quest line. Boards World of Warcraft how do i get thunderfury, blessed blade of the windseeker? User Info: dzastor User Info: ezekiel User Info: kingdrake2.
User Info: Bladesyphon. Go into Molten Core. Farm Garr and Baron Geddon until your eyes bleed each week for the left and right bindings of the windseeker. Take said bindings to quest giver in Silithus, return to Blackrock Mountain and farm Blackwing Lair until your eyes bleed each week for Elementium Ingots.
User Info: Nubatakeaseata. You need one of the bindings before you can start the quest chain. User Info: jn Did someone say [Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker]?!? This doesn't mean a rogue can't make good use of this sword.
It just means that Rogues can get swords with higher Top end damage that are more effective as they get better gear. This explaination should let Guild leaders know how to distribute the bindings.
Comment by Allakhazam Wow its huge looks like it could b a 2handed. If that is the case, I would be very dissapointed that they even put Rogue and Hunter as useable classes on the bindings. Comment by Allakhazam i know it is real because i have one. Comment by Allakhazam heh that would be so cool if you dual wield of them. Comment by Allakhazam Its pretty nice that they will change it to one-hand, unfortunaly procs get halved while wearing in the off-hand, so dps will drop alot. I wouldn't say no if they offered me one though ;.
Comment by Allakhazam A paladin took this? I have a 60 Pally, and I gotta say that seeing this in the hands of a Pally would make me proud, but would also make me wonder what that Paladin's guild was smoking :P As much as I'd absolutely LOVE to have this, and as much as I would LOVE to see a Paladin using this, it's just not the best use of this sort of weapon.
I know very few paladins that end up melee'ing much, and those that do still don't do crap for DPS unless they have a 2H going. I can and do see way more Paladins with Sulfuras, but WF? I would love to see Blizzard give Paladins a better tanking talent tree though.
Then maybe this would be considered useable by more Paladins ; That probably wont happen though. Comment by Allakhazam Have had it for erm.. The Proc is cool, but a pain in AQ40, it aggro's all the little neutral bugs, so I switch to my defender instead.
Wonder how it would turn out to be after The Burning Crusade Comment by Allakhazam Can someone comment whether this sword is a good idea for a fury built warrior or not? Comment by Allakhazam I agree that it's a good sword. But, it's not THE best sword anymore. Infact it's less powerful since the BC pack!. The proc alone is weaker and doesn't even proc as much. I have said this to many people who are noob enough to still use the sword.
Yes, it can still hold it's own. I'm don;t care if your the 1 warrior in the game. Thunderfury sucks compared to Kings Defender and other blade you can get from Kara and Gruuls lair. It was funny to hear a person yell at me saying I'm retarted for say Thunderfury wasn't good anymore. But it's fact. So my thought stands.
If you don;t respect about what I think then you need to stop playing the game for more than 5 hours a day and get a real life. Edited, May 8th am by KingDhaos. Comment by Allakhazam Kungen still uses this so i still do lol.
Comment by Allakhazam This sword should never be underestimated. Comment by Allakhazam You figure since it's such an elemental nature based weapon it should be a dagger instead of a sword, at least a shaman would have fun with it. But I agree with many others, there's trully a lack of caster based legendray type items. Sure there's the uber high dps wand crimson shocker with over 73dps.
But still that's epic and offa MC. Comment by Allakhazam the proc istn calculated in the dps only physic and nature damage. Comment by Allakhazam hey just wondering if a mage could get this not for that stats but only for the looks :P cose this loooks awesome. Good luck to Riddic NE hunter in gathering the rest of your elentium. I just wanted to say that I actually witnessed Dex fighting Thorrak orc warrior in arathi basin about a week ago.
Dex was using Thunderfury, Thorrak used Sulfuras. Even better, both weapons procced. Dex won, of course. Comment by Allakhazam There are currently 2 legendary weapons in the game, Thunderfury and Sulfuras. Thunderfury is wielded by the Wind Seeker and Sulfuras by the Fire Lord, is it not possible that there will be other legendaries which will be wielded by the future earth boss and the future water boss?
Perhaps even shadow I know Kel'Thuzad and Karazhan are due to be implemented and light. Comment by Allakhazam Edited, Wed Nov 23 Comment by Allakhazam I'm just saying any hunter using this weapon should die. Comment by Allakhazam I think I just pooped my pants a little bit Comment by Allakhazam I want this hunter not for dps, not for the 8agi omg 5 whole agi!
Comment by Allakhazam got this baby finally: warrior, bloodscalp eu Edited, Wed Mar 29 Comment by Allakhazam On the Zul'jin realm, we have a few people who have made this sword, and I see hem here and there in IF. I dont know exactly how many people, but probably around Most of them are rogues, with a couple of warriors. I guess this sword isn't as hard to get as I thought it was, sounded a lot harder until I read the forums.
Comment by Allakhazam heres a quick one. Comment by Allakhazam I just had a thought I figured I should write down somewhere, just to give everyone a reminder of the power of this weapon Thunderfury procs multiple times within these 3 seconds Maelstrom procs once or twice in these 3 seconds Comment by Allakhazam Got it on Uther as a 60 rogue, 2 friends have it too, one war and one pali. All 3 of us put it too good use.
Raid DPS is nice but I cant wait to offhand it. Still is not the best Hunter weapon IMO and a great tanking weapon. I was 3rd in line in my guild, got it after the 2nd person left us. Comment by Allakhazam Can be equipped in either hand. Now an uber OH sword for PvP rogue. Thanks so much to everyone who helped! Comment by Allakhazam I just have one question. Can this item be Master looted or do we have to risk it being ninjaed by greed and need.
I have seen videos of this item being ninjaed and we have a guild on our server that needed to kill Thunderfury twice cause they had ML on the first attempt so they couldnt loot it.
Comment by Allakhazam Dude. Im all over that sword. Comment by Allakhazam I'd love to see what people would say on my surver if i had one of those on my warlock. Comment by Allakhazam Think of this quest as if you were a shaman doing a quest to gain a new totem. In this case, you are asked to gather a bunch of elementium and kill ragnaros for a quest. When you do gather these items, and turn the quest in, the NPC then gives you another quest to summon Thunderaan, which is an oversized elite whirlwind elemental.
Thunderaan drops a quest item called something like a dorment blade. He was the first person on an American server to get this.
And he knows my name. My brothers of the sword! I would rather fight beside you than any army of thousands! Let no man forget how menacing we are, we are lions! Do you know what's waiting beyond that beach? Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker! Take it! It's yours!
Comment by Allakhazam well im a combat rogue sword spec the whole deal. Comment by Allakhazam on my server 3 ppls have that nice weapon ; 1 paladin also have a Ragni hammer ;. How GHEY. I wanted to see all 3 of them and Crusader with Cleave and Whirlwind.
Comment by Allakhazam The chances of a rogue getting this look pretty slim. The drop rate isn't friendly and most guilds would give it to a warrior way before a rogue. Most guilds with half a brain between officers woul equip ALL the warriors with this before a rogue got a chance.
A rogue would have to see the 2 halfs drop times before they got a hold of it. Not a fun weapon for a rogue to want. Edited, Sun Mar 26 Comment by Allakhazam I'd say like this about what class that should have it: Hunters: You have your epic staff and you suck melee no offens : so I bet this won't proc ranged. Sure the book is a rare drop but it's easier to get then this. So my point is that this is best for rogues, yes it is also good for arms warriors but rogues and paladins is the only class that doesn't have a class weapon.
Comment by Allakhazam I just got this thing on my rogue its quite incredible. They call this thing nerfed? I therefore ask what they've been smoking. I'm always at the top of the damage charts. And in pvp I put out so much dps I can kill warriors with a healer or two on them if I throw a few offensive cooldowns. Quite an incredible blade. Better than my old perdition blade by far.
Comment by Allakhazam this looks very nice.. Comment by Allakhazam I wonder what would happen if you Disenchanted Thunderfury. A nexus crystal? Comment by Allakhazam Okay, you're a rogue. It's got good dps, it's 9 foot long, and has a paragraph proc.
Oh, and an orange name. The girls will want to be with you and the guys will want to be you. It is awesome. But is it worth it? It took me 8 months, 2 guilds, and 10k gold.
But the price you pay doesnt end there, and Im not talking about the 4. For every 1 compliment you get, you get 3 counts of harrassment, and there are ALOT of compliments.
You can't walk anywhere with it equipped without starting a conversation, or more likely an argument exactly like the ones here. But onto the damage. In 5 man dungeons, solo, and pvp, you will own.
It will be as good as you expect. In the mainhand I get around 9 procs per minute over long term and I slice and dice fairly frequently. In PVP it's total confusion with lightning and tornadoes hitting all thier d00dz. Perhaps an extra 20 dps on a rough guess. But while I was thinking about how expensive a moderate dps boost in a raid that was, I realized something. TF's main benefit is not damage.
TF's benefit is the proc. Not the I've got a max damage. So, obviously, it does benefit the tank, but also the tanks healers, which leaves more mana for them to heal everyone else. The argument about causing way too much aggro gain is like most of the arguments about Thunderfury. They're made by people who haven't used one. I've noticed very little increase in nasty aggro situations and certainly nothing uncontrollable. Anything short of a Grand Marshal's sword, Main hand it. Don't care about your math, Ive tested it long term.
So, in conclusion: Guilds should open up to the idea of a rogue having it. I'd say it's benefitted my guild just as much as if the tank had gotten it and Im sure they'd agree. If I could go back and had the choice to bid on that first binding again, would I? I would pass on it. The effort put in is not worth the end result, in my opinion.
Comment by Allakhazam Beastly weapon, has great skills and also has some awesome stuff. Comment by Allakhazam Guess it'll be nice for warrs and pallys, but useless for rogues. Comment by Allakhazam I thought I read somewhere that it dropped from him and only some druid was able to loot it cause he summoned it, though not the quest reward it is still RELATED to the quest. Comment by Allakhazam Penumbra on Icecrown just got this sword yesterday.
Comment by Allakhazam Anyone know what the proc rate has been lowered to since 1. The patch notes only stated that it had been lowered, not by how much.
Comment by Allakhazam I guess there are still some things that are not clear. Yes, the sword is a quest reward. A reward for the quest where you need to kill Thunderaan. And to summon Thunderaan you need both bindings of windseeker and 10 elementium bars and some other nice crap. So, there will be no "ninjaing this thing from Thunderaan" nor any n00b rogues with this weapon. No worries there. It's definitely a weapon for a tank. It couldn't be any more tanky even if the words "For tanks" were written on it.
Also, checking the dps and max damage, no pvp warrior would specifically want this weapon either. The proc is awesome for both pvp and pve, but for pvp there are other very good 1handers that are easier to get.
Thunderaan is very easy to kill. I was there when my guild did it. We were a full man raid just because everyone wanted to see the boss, but I'm sure it'd go down with like.. Very easy with a few good healers and a good tank.
I'd say a load easier than most MC bosses. Thunderaan obviously does nature damage, so if you are having problems which I would find weird , drink a few nature resist potions. I'm guessing it also has some melee hit that sends one flying, since I saw some guildies fly in air. I doubt any server will see much rogues or paladins with this weapon. It clearly requires a LOT of work to get, and any guild that gets one will surely give it to their MT.
Only if they get a second or third one, I could see a rogue or paladin getting it. I doubt there are any pvp-oriented guilds that even have this weapon. So it's pointless to argue about which class would be best with this weapon, 'cause it'll go to the tank and be used in pve mostly. Comment by Allakhazam were does a binding drop? Comment by Allakhazam Chromatically tempered sword isn't even on par with thunderfury.
CTS is more reliable in pve for raid damage, however its not even close to being on par with what thunderfury does in pvp. Comment by Allakhazam well dunno about this but we have in our guild rank 14 warrior with r14 sword and he is 1st and 2nd in dmg meters at ragnaros for example If I had a chance to have this on my rogue I'd pass it to a tank.
Two rogues on Kil'Jaeden now use Rippers over this; it is still the best tanking weapon in the game. Fell free to contradict me or counter one of my points but there is no reason to take this over a warrior. Comment by Allakhazam so does fatal and knight wray. Comment by Allakhazam Very nice blade
